Bond investors keep inflation concerns after Fed guidance stalls
Government bond yields stayed elevated as investors questioned how effectively the Fed is containing inflation.
Bond investors’ inflation concerns persisted after the Federal Reserve failed to provide clear guidance, leaving yields on government bonds elevated, according to The New York Times Business and its economy desk.
Because government bond yields underpin borrowing costs across the economy, higher yields can flow through to financing costs for mortgages and business loans, the outlets noted.
The NYT said the market reaction reflects investor worries that the Fed’s approach to containing inflation is not yet providing enough direction to reduce uncertainty.
