China accuses Philippines of sovereignty violations in South China Sea seabed claim

China accused the Philippines of “flagrantly infringing” Chinese sovereignty and undermining regional peace after Manila formally presented a bid to the United Nations seeking extended seabed rights in the South China Sea, according to a report by SCMP Economy.

China’s rebuttal was issued by its mission to the UN on Thursday, following the Philippines’ presentations before the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf (CLCS) on Tuesday and Wednesday.

SCMP Economy also reported that Malaysia’s UN mission rejected the Philippine submission, citing overlapping maritime claims.
