King of Prussia seeks state funding for $200M mixed-use sports venue
The project would target a 7,500-seat stadium on a 16.8-acre Moore Park site, with construction planned to start later this year and finish in 2028.
Local officials in Upper Merion Township, which includes King of Prussia, are pursuing a sports and entertainment anchored redevelopment they say would help transform a traditional office park into a mixed-use district, according to Bisnow.
The plan calls for a 7,500-seat venue on a 16.8-acre site in the Moore Park business complex, described as potentially able to host a minor league baseball team and a professional women’s soccer team.
Funding efforts are centered on an application to Pennsylvania’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program for $20M in state support toward a nearly $200M project, with the proposal listing a total price tag of $197M.
The redevelopment would rely on a proposed state contribution of $55M, plus $31M from Montgomery County and $35M from the township over 30 years, with the remaining $56M expected from private sources such as rent paid by teams, sponsorship opportunities, and donations, Bisnow added.
