Mortgage rates hold steady, edging slightly lower

Mortgage News Daily said the market reaction to the prior day’s Fed press conference appeared to be a one-time move, helping keep rates from worsening.

Mortgage rates saw only microscopic changes, with the average lender moving just a hair lower versus the prior day, according to Mortgage News Daily.

The outlet said there had been a risk that bonds, which help dictate mortgage rates, would continue reacting after the previous day’s Fed press conference.

Mortgage News Daily added that this morning’s economic data did not meaningfully shift rates, describing the data as uneventful and possibly even helpful.

Overall, the lack of follow-on drama suggested the earlier market reaction was “one and done.”
