Samsung SDS talks stablecoin infrastructure with Upbit operator Dunamu
Samsung SDS said it is aiming to expand in digital asset infrastructure after CEO Lee Jun-hee discussed potential cooperation with Dunamu on stablecoin issuance to settlement capabilities.
Samsung SDS, the IT services arm of Samsung Group, is in discussions with Dunamu, the operator of South Korean crypto exchange Upbit, about building stablecoin infrastructure and related digital asset and payment models, Cointelegraph reports. The talks also cover AI-based payment business models, as part of an effort to refine potential digital financial infrastructure offerings between the two firms.
Samsung SDS CEO Lee Jun-hee said during the company’s second-quarter earnings call that the unit has already developed capabilities for digital asset infrastructure, including work tied to the Korea Securities Depository’s tokenized securities platform project. Lee also pointed to end-to-end validation across the full stablecoin process, from issuance through settlement.
The company said it expects its relationship with Dunamu to help it expand within the digital asset infrastructure market. The development comes days after Samsung Electronics unveiled plans to add stablecoin support to Samsung Wallet.
Cointelegraph adds that Samsung SDS previously moved to deepen ties to Dunamu, with Samsung Securities, Samsung SDS, and Samsung Card agreeing in May 2026 to buy a combined 4% stake in Dunamu. In the Q2 call, Lee characterized the Dunamu investment as strategic rather than financial, and Samsung SDS said it plans to combine its IT services, cloud, and security capabilities with Dunamu’s blockchain expertise, while Dunamu declined to comment.
