US Central Command says strikes on IRGC targets in Iran were completed
CENTCOM said the strikes targeted missile, drone, surveillance and maritime sites used to diminish threats to US forces, commercial shipping and Gulf countries.
The US Central Command says its forces successfully completed a heavy wave of strikes against Iran, carried out in response to an attempted missile attack on US forces in the Middle East, with the operation finishing at 10 p.m. ET on July 29, according to Forexlive. CENTCOM said its assets struck dozens of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targets in Iran, including military command centers, missile and drone facilities, coastal surveillance and defense sites, and maritime capabilities. The stated aim was to further reduce threats posed by Iran and its proxies to American forces, commercial shipping, and neighboring Gulf countries, Forexlive reported. Forexlive added that on July 28, IRGC forces launched multiple ballistic missiles from Iran in an attempted surprise attack on US bases, and that all Iranian missiles were intercepted. The update also said more than 50,000 US service members are currently deployed to the region and remain highly vigilant.
