Vedanta Q1 profit rises 71.8% to ₹5,473 crore
The company also approved a real estate demerger into Vedanta Property Platforms Ltd, with the share split planned as 1 new share for every 20 shares held in Vedanta Limited.
Vedanta reported Q1FY27 results for the June quarter, posting a 71.8% year-on-year rise in consolidated profit attributable to owners to ₹5,473 crore, according to LiveMint Markets. Total revenue from operations increased 53.6% year-on-year to ₹24,205 crore.
The metals and minerals company said EBITDA nearly doubled, up 99% year-on-year to ₹8,501 crore. It also reported an 800 basis point year-on-year improvement in EBITA margin to 35.1%.
Vedanta’s key expenses included a 37% year-on-year jump in cost of materials consumed to ₹8,670 crore in Q1FY27, up from ₹6,331 crore in the prior year quarter referenced in the release. The firm’s board also reappointed Arun Misra as an executive director and designated him as Chief Executive Officer for one year, effective 1 August 2026, subject to shareholder approval.
Separately, Vedanta’s board approved the demerger of its real estate business into a separate entity, Vedanta Property Platforms Ltd, subject to required approvals. The planned vertical split calls for shareholders to receive 1 share of Vedanta Property Platforms for every 20 shares of Vedanta Limited, covering nearly 2,200 acres of industrial land and nearly 55,000 square feet of residential or commercial property, the outlet said.
