Zen-Noh to buy 30% of Brazil’s Grupo Cereal
Zen-Noh Brazil Trading Ltda. will partner with the Barauna family, which keeps 70% and continues to lead operations, while the founder is set to become board chair.
Zen-Noh Brazil Trading Ltda., a subsidiary of Zen-Noh Global SA, has agreed to acquire a 30% stake in Brazil family-owned agribusiness Grupo Cereal, covering grain origination, agricultural inputs, processing and biofuels.
The companies said the deal, announced July 24, does not disclose financial terms. Under the agreement, the Barauna family will retain 70% of the shareholding and continue to lead the company’s strategic direction and day-to-day operations.
Zen-Noh Global, headquartered in Geneva, is the international agribusiness platform of Japan’s Zen-Noh group. It has been operating in Brazil since 2015, and the firms said the combination will use Grupo Cereal’s regional relationships and Zen-Noh’s international trade expertise to support infrastructure expansion and value generation for rural producers.
Founder Evaristo Lira Barauna will assume the chairmanship of Grupo Cereal’s board of directors, while Zen-Noh Brazil President Ricardo Capone and Grupo Cereal President Adriano Barauna characterized the partnership as a growth opportunity for producers and customers.
