China acknowledges building more nuclear missile silos for “strategic trump cards”

A PLA Rocket Force engineering officer said the silo construction schedule was tight but completed on time.

China has made a rare acknowledgement that it built additional nuclear missile silos in recent years, according to coverage by SCMP Economy that highlighted a state television documentary on the construction program.

In an interview with state broadcaster CCTV, Cui Daohu, an officer in a PLA Rocket Force engineering unit, described his role in building the missile positions he called China’s “strategic trump cards.”

SCMP Economy reported that Cui did not specify the missile type, but said the team faced challenges erecting an extremely heavy core component and assembling two large sections on site without any damage, while also finishing on time despite a tight schedule.
