Quantum Solutions raises ETH sale cap to fund AI data centers
The firm sold 1,000 ETH for $1.9 million on July 30 and expects to book a loss on the position based on its May 31 carrying value.
Tokyo-listed Quantum Solutions says it is increasing the amount of ETH it can sell through Oct. 30 to raise funds for an AI data center business, while noting part of its remaining ether is pledged as collateral. According to CoinDesk, the company’s board raised the ETH disposal ceiling to 4,375 ETH, which would cover nearly 66% of its June holdings, even as 3,050 ETH are pledged.
Quantum Solutions previously sold 1,000 ETH on July 30, generating $1.903 million after fees, with CoinDesk citing a company filing for the sale price of $1,903 per token. The firm said it expects to recognize a $100,970 loss against the position’s May 31 carrying value of $2,003.97 per ETH.
CoinDesk also reports that the sale price was 47% below Quantum’s average acquisition cost of $3,595.02 per ETH reported in June. Earlier in June, the firm sold 904 ETH for $1.61 million at an average price of $1,777 per token.
Quantum says it plans to use the proceeds for data center deposits, GPU servers, networking equipment and working capital. CoinDesk further notes Quantum expects the two disposals to have raised about $3.51 million and reduced holdings to 4,764.8 ETH from 6,668.8 ETH, and it has a nonbinding agreement with Integrated Capital to explore a Japanese data center.
