Guardian details links among Farage, donors, and alleged loan activity
The outlet says NCA-linked concerns included reports by multiple banks, after people were interviewed under caution by the Metropolitan Police.
The Guardian Business reports that its investigation into Reform UK has expanded to describe what it says is a tighter network of relationships involving Nigel Farage, donor Christopher Harborne, and the Cottrell family.
According to the report, Farage accepted a 5 million pound gift from Harborne, and the outlet says it also previously revealed details of secret donations and a behind-the-scenes loan from a donor, with the Metropolitan Police interviewing two people under caution.
The Guardian Business adds that sources described bank staff reporting a range of transactions tied to senior party figures to the National Crime Agency, citing concerns about the activity.
The outlet further says George Cottrell, described as a convicted fraudster based in Montenegro, transferred more than $2 million to his mother, Fiona, in 2024, with each payment arriving shortly before she made substantial donations to the party.
