SBI Crypto ends Bitcoin pool service in Japan as major miners gain share
SBI Crypto’s seven-day average hashrate fell 64% in a month before the July 31 cutoff, while Foundry USA, AntPool, and F2Pool were seen holding about 60% of recent blocks around the same time.
SBI Crypto shut down its Bitcoin mining pool service in Japan on July 31, according to CryptoSlate. The company stopped accepting shares on a first scheduled cutoff at 22:00 UTC on July 30, then moved toward a full Stratum shutdown by 23:59:59 UTC, while keeping its website available for historical data and payout status.
CryptoSlate reports that before the plug was pulled, SBI Crypto’s seven-day average hashrate had dropped 64% over the prior month. Around the cutoff window, Hashrate Index data showed Foundry USA, AntPool, and F2Pool together at roughly 60% of recent blocks, a timing that raised questions about whether SBI’s lost hashrate shifted into the hands of the largest operators.
The outlet also said separate operational statistics put SBI Crypto at about 0.72%, or an estimated 6.8 EH/s per second, with the dashboard changing within minutes. SBI Crypto’s official block list showed July 29 as its latest block, and the final payout schedule remained unspecified, as did the end dates for API and portal access.
CryptoSlate added that the weekly picture was less clean when looking beyond the single snapshot, since the 60% reading captured a moment rather than a lasting level of control. It cited mixed pool movements within partial weekly buckets and said the aggregate totals do not identify where SBI’s lost pool hashrate ultimately routed.
