US embassies in Middle East warn Americans to consider departing
The alerts followed a fresh warning from President Donald Trump about potential strikes on Iran and came as the conflict continued to rattle global energy markets.
US embassies across the Middle East issued security alerts to American citizens, urging them to consider departing or be ready to leave if an escalation occurs, Agence France-Presse reports. The messages were posted by embassies in Bahrain, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates on Saturday.
The alerts pointed to the risk of an “unforeseen escalation” in the regional conflict, and advised Americans in the region to check flight details and follow safety guidance from local authorities. The warnings arrived after President Donald Trump threatened to hit Iran “very hard,” according to the report.
The outlet said the Iran-US conflict has been ongoing since February 28, after which a ceasefire period of calm later collapsed as strikes returned. The war has disrupted daily life across the Middle East and has been running for months alongside volatility in global energy markets, the report added.
