Rocket Lab shares surged after years of drawdowns, propelled by revenue growth
The space systems segment accounted for 67% of 2025 revenue, while Rocket Lab also booked a $266 million U.S. Space Force contract for suborbital launch missions.
Rocket Lab stock has delivered strong gains over the past three years despite a steep drop from its recent peak, according to Yahoo Finance and analysis by The Motley Fool. Shares closed at $7.26 on Aug. 1, 2023 and later traded around $58.60, turning a $10,000 investment into about $81,000, based on the article's figures. The write-up notes Rocket Lab peaked at $151 within the past year, implying shares are down about 61% from that high, but still up roughly eight times for the Aug. 2023 investor. It also highlights the company’s revenue expansion, rising from $245 million in 2023 to $436 million in 2024 and $602 million in 2025, with 2025 revenue representing a 38% increase from the prior year and nearly two and a half times the 2023 level.
Operationally, Rocket Lab flew a record 21 missions in 2025, up from 16 the year before. The article emphasizes that launches are not the only driver, saying the space systems segment that builds satellites and related components generated 67% of 2025 revenue.
Momentum carried into 2026, the outlet reports. First quarter revenue rose about 63% year over year to a record $200.3 million, backlog climbed to a record $2.2 billion, and management guided for second-quarter revenue of $225 million to $240 million. On July 27, Rocket Lab also announced a $266 million contract with the U.S. Space Force for suborbital launch missions, described as the largest launch contract in the company’s history, with the Neutron rocket targeted for late this year.
