SpaceX investors crowdsource questions for first public earnings call
Reuters reports SpaceX set aside about 30% of IPO shares for retail investors, and most top questions focused on Starship and Starlink rather than near term finances.
SpaceX has opened an online forum for retail investors to submit and vote on questions ahead of its first earnings call as a public company, with the most popular prompts centered on Starship hardware and Starlink, Reuters reported Aug. 1.
According to Reuters, among the leading questions were requests for more footage of Starship's Human Landing System, the vehicle intended to carry astronauts to the moon for NASA's Artemis program next year, as well as when the new Starship would begin refueling in orbit and improve the rocket's appearance.
Reuters added that some of the more unusual shareholder queries included whether Asteroid, SpaceX's Shiba Inu mascot unveiled recently, could play a larger role in education and children's charities, and a suggestion to sell sponsorships for individual heat shield tiles so fans could have their names flown into space.
Reuters said SpaceX also created a forum after it reserved roughly 30% of its IPO shares for retail investors, one of the largest individual allocations in a major U.S. listing, and that while the stock has fallen more than half from its post-IPO intraday peak, questions about business outlook and finances drew comparatively less support.
