Wall Street sets up for US jobs data and major earnings next week

Investors will also track the Fed’s Senior Loan Officer Opinion Survey and the New York Fed’s consumer expectations survey for signals on lending, inflation outlook, and sentiment.

Wall Street ended Friday with the S&P 500 up 0.7%, and the week ahead is set to center on the US July employment report, which investors will use to gauge the outlook for interest rates over the coming months, according to LiveMint Markets.

The Federal Reserve kept benchmark rates unchanged at its latest policy meeting and Chair Kevin Warsh provided limited guidance on when future rate increases could occur, leaving upcoming economic data as the main driver of market expectations.

Investors will also monitor the Federal Reserve’s Senior Loan Officer Opinion Survey on Monday for clues on lending standards and credit availability, and the New York Fed’s Survey of Consumer Expectations on Friday for additional input on inflation expectations and consumer sentiment.

On the corporate calendar, SpaceX is scheduled to report its first quarterly earnings since its blockbuster IPO, with investors looking for updates on Starlink subscriber growth, Starship development timing, and capital expenditure plans. The week also includes quarterly results from Palantir, AMD, Walt Disney, Uber, Airbnb, and Eli Lilly.
