Kenya puts more than 30 million academic records on Avalanche

The system is designed to let employers and universities verify credentials onchain to reduce certificate fraud, with AVAX down 1.1% on Monday.

Kenya has launched a blockchain based system for verifying academic credentials, using the Avalanche network to store more than 30 million records via the Kenya National Examinations Council, or KNEC, according to Cointelegraph.

The initiative is intended to combat certificate fraud in the country, where thousands of forged academic certificates are reported each year, and it allows employers, universities, and other institutions to authenticate academic records onchain.

KNEC and Avalanche say the verification platform is now live, but they did not disclose how widely students, employers, or educational institutions have adopted it.

Cointelegraph also noted that the rollout represents one of Avalanche's largest public sector deployments, though the announcement did not clarify whether it is expected to drive demand for Avalanche's native token, AVAX, which was down 1.1% on Monday and remains about 69% below its level a year ago.
