Reform UK details Channel operation plan as financial-interest probe opens

Reform UK also faces an investigation after a standards commissioner opened a probe into an alleged failure to declare a financial interest by deputy leader Richard Tice.

The hard-right Reform UK party has unveiled plans to, if it wins power, run what it described as the largest military operation in the English Channel since World War II to stop migrants crossing on small boats, according to a report by the SCMP Economy citing Agence France-Presse.

The proposal comes after tens of thousands of migrants entered Spain’s North African enclave of Ceuta from Morocco, renewing focus on border and migration controls in Europe.

Separately, the outlet said that on Monday the UK parliament’s standards commissioner opened an investigation into an alleged failure by Reform UK’s deputy leader, Richard Tice, to declare a financial interest.
