Robinhood UK gets FCA crypto registration ahead of new rules

Robinhood’s U.K. arm was added to the FCA’s registered cryptoasset firms list as of July 31, with the wider U.K. crypto framework due to take effect in October 2027.

CoinDesk reports Robinhood has secured U.K. authorization to offer cryptocurrency services as its U.K. unit was added to the Financial Conduct Authority’s list of registered cryptoasset companies as of July 31.

The outlet says Robinhood’s existing FCA registration covers the regulator’s anti-money laundering requirements, aligning the firm with the standards in place under the current crypto regime.

CoinDesk also notes that U.K. crypto regulation is moving to a broader framework that is set to come into force in October 2027, with the authorization process opening at the end of September and closing at the end of February 2027.

The report adds that the faster registration window gives firms already approved under the FCA’s prior regime an advantage in meeting full requirements when the new framework begins.
