Ripple invests in Zilo and Licuido to expand tokenized collateral on XRPL
The deals are intended to help solve idle-collateral issues by letting tokenized funds be used as collateral from issuance, Ripple said.
Ripple has announced strategic investments in Zilo and Licuido as it aims to expand access to tokenized financial assets on its XRP Ledger infrastructure, according to Cointelegraph.
Ripple said Zilo provides global transfer agency asset solutions for wealth managers, while Licuido is a tokenization solutions provider regulated by the UK Financial Conduct Authority. Ripple did not disclose financial details for either investment, Cointelegraph reported.
Cointelegraph said Ripple expects the partnerships to bring regulated transfer agency, issuance, and collateral mobility to XRPL, with the goal of addressing problems tied to idle collateral by enabling tokenized funds to be used as collateral from the point of issuance.
The announcement follows activity in tokenized products on XRPL, including Cointelegraph reporting that Aviva Investors launched a tokenized share class of its US Dollar Liquidity Fund on XRPL after receiving approval from the Central Bank of Ireland. Cointelegraph also cited RWA.xyz data showing XRPL has $368 million in tokenized real-world assets and that total RWA holders increased by 50% over the prior 30 days, while total tokenized assets rose 1.5% to $37.3 billion.
