Trump digital asset adviser Tyler Williams exits US Treasury
Williams departure follows Congresss deadlock on the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, which requires 60 Senate votes, and analysts warned delays could weigh on digital asset prices.
Cointelegraph reports that Tyler Williams, a senior U.S. Treasury official overseeing digital asset policy and an adviser to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, has left the department. The outlet cited a Monday report by Punchbowl News, adding that Williams is expected to return to the private sector.
Williams joined Treasury in early 2025 after previously serving as head of policy at Galaxy Digital, and Cointelegraph said he played a central role in shaping the administration’s digital asset agenda during his tenure.
His exit comes as Congress remains deadlocked over the Digital Asset Market Clarity, or CLARITY, Act, a market structure bill that has stalled ahead of lawmakers’ August recess. Cointelegraph noted the measure needs 60 votes to advance in the Senate, which would require Republicans to secure Democratic support, but it has not yet produced bipartisan consensus.
Cointelegraph also reported that Bernstein analysts said additional delays could weigh on digital asset prices by prolonging regulatory uncertainty.
