Trump orders Iran talks to start Monday after pausing new strikes

Trump said Iran and US partners, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar, asked him to hold off on strikes to pursue a deal.

The South China Morning Post reported that US President Donald Trump said negotiations with Iran are set to begin on Monday after he decided to pause new strikes to seek a deal.

Trump said the talks will start Monday afternoon, adding that he did not provide details on the venue or who will participate. He also said Iran and US partners Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar asked him to call off the strikes.

Explaining the decision, Trump said the allies believed a deal was possible, and he agreed to consider the request.
