Hong Kong faces renewed water outages after pipe burst in Tuen Mun
A 600mm steel pipe repair led to supply resuming after 9:30am, but authorities face repeated disruptions with the Tuen Mun incident the third in the area within a week.
Hong Kong authorities are being urged to accelerate water pipe replacement and monitoring after another burst triggered fresh outages in Tuen Mun, following multiple leaks in nearby areas within days.
According to SCMP Economy, fresh water supply to four residential complexes near Tuen Lee Street gradually resumed after 9:30am Tuesday after emergency repairs to a 600mm steel water pipe, with supply suspended at 11pm the previous night to allow the work.
The outlet said the Monday morning rupture affected about 7,000 residents and was the third incident in the area within a week, adding to earlier disruptions in Kwai Chung and Shau Kei Wan.
SCMP Economy reported that a previous Tuesday night shutdown occurred after a nearby section of pipe was found to be leaking, and that a district councillor said repeating outages in such a short period has caused significant distress for residents.
