Keith Oden to retire from executive role at Camden Property Trust

Oden will step down from his executive capacity on Aug. 31 but remain a member of Camden’s Board of Trust Managers.

Camden Property Trust said Keith Oden, executive vice chairman of the board for the Houston-based multifamily REIT, will retire from his executive role at the end of August, effective Aug. 31.

The company said Oden will continue serving as a member of the Board of Trust Managers. Camden also said his retirement is the final step in a multiyear succession plan.

Camden noted that Oden’s exit follows earlier leadership changes, including Alex Jessett being named the REIT’s second-ever CEO, and Laurie Baker being promoted to president and chief operating officer, along with Ben Fraker to executive vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer.

The REIT, which develops, owns and operates apartments, has a portfolio of more than 56,000 units across 15 U.S. markets, mainly in the Sun Belt, and recently disclosed the sale of an 11-property California portfolio for $1.6 billion.
