Shenzhen health authorities warn clinics to stop illegal dental marketing in HK
The notice follows a July 23 Hong Kong police arrest of a 72-year-old man accused of illegal dentistry at a North Point shop promoting a mainland clinic, according to the report.
Shenzhen health authorities have issued a warning to private medical service providers, telling them to halt unauthorised operations and marketing activities in Hong Kong after mainland officials were alerted to an unlicensed dental practice there, the South China Morning Post reports.
The warning, issued by Shenzhen’s Public Hygiene and Health Commission, came about a week after Hong Kong police arrested a 72-year-old local man on July 23, alleging he practised dentistry illegally at a North Point shop used by a mainland Chinese dental clinic to promote its business.
The clinic’s shop reportedly displayed promotional messaging such as “Hong Kong’s cheapest place for dental check-up” and “free consultation available,” and Shenzhen officials said such cross-border activity can severely endanger patients’ health and rights.
In the notice, Shenzhen urged institutions and physicians to observe the legal boundaries for practice in Hong Kong, saying unregistered institutions and personnel are prohibited from conducting medical practice activities there and calling for immediate self-inspections and self-corrections.
