Singapore bans Massive Attack over pro-Palestine symbols and shouts
The move is tied to Singapore laws that bar displaying non-Singaporean flags and require permits for protests, with regulators also reviewing the band’s licence conditions.
Singapore has banned British duo Massive Attack after pro-Palestine acts during a Wednesday concert, including holding up a Palestinian flag and shouting “Free Palestine” with audience members, according to SCMP Economy.
The city state cited the Foreign National Emblems (Control of Display) Act, which makes it illegal to display non-Singaporean flags, and the Public Order Act, which prohibits protests without a permit.
SCMP Economy added that Singapore’s IMDA is also investigating a potential breach of licence conditions, including a clause requiring there be no display of flags in support of any causes.
