Tech CEO shares AI-clipped toddler sleepover audio after privacy backlash
The Mocha CEO said the recording is a “treasure” his family has replayed, after critics argued the secret recording should not have been fed to AI and posted online.
Nicholas Charriere, CEO of AI website builder Mocha, posted what he described as a heartwarming family project: recording his toddler cousin’s overnight sleepover conversations, sending the audio to Claude, and turning the transcription into a titled family webpage of clip segments.
The effort drew sharp criticism after a top reply warned they would “hate my parents” if they found out their private sleepover chat was recorded and published, while other users questioned why the audio was fed to AI and shared.
Charriere pushed back publicly, calling the audio “a treasure” and saying his family has played it on repeat. He also suggested the page is effectively an hour-long series the family listens to together as they wait.
In the comment thread, critics expanded to broader privacy concerns about using AI to process and post recordings, with X’s trending tab generating a headline around the episode.
