India condemns attack after India-flagged oil tanker sinks in Red Sea
The Yemeni Coast Guard rescued all seafarers, including 13 Indian nationals, after the MSV Faize Noore Oliya capsized and sank on Aug. 4, 2026.
An India-flagged tanker reportedly carrying Saudi oil sank in the Red Sea after being hit by a projectile, according to OilPrice. India’s Ministry of External Affairs condemned the attack on the vessel, identified as MSV Faize Noore Oliya, which sank off Yemen on Aug. 4, 2026. The Indian minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways said the ship was struck by a projectile near Yemeni waters. All seafarers, including 13 Indian nationals, were rescued by the Yemeni Coast Guard after the vessel was hit, capsized, and sank. India’s foreign ministry said continuing attacks on commercial shipping were deeply worrying, and called for an end to the targeting of commercial vessels and for free, unimpeded navigation through the international waterways. OilPrice added that the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb chokepoint have become a new theater for attacks on vessels after the Iran-aligned Houthis threatened to disrupt Saudi-linked shipments, with tankers carrying Saudi oil appearing to face targeting.
