PLA shows nuclear-capable missile on bomber in anti-ship drill footage
Chinese state broadcaster CCTV aired the first official footage confirming the missile loaded onto an H-6N bomber during the drill.
The People’s Liberation Army has released first official footage showing a nuclear-capable air-launched ballistic missile, the Jing Lei-1, mounted on an H-6N bomber in combat-ready status during a joint anti-ship exercise, according to SCMP Economy.
The missile was shown on the strategic bomber in flight, with CCTV not naming the weapon, but military observers said the missile’s size and distinctive body profile make it very likely to be the JL-1.
SCMP Economy reports the documentary episode, part of CCTV coverage tied to PLA’s 99th anniversary on August 1, included the latest bomber loading footage, which the outlet describes as the first official confirmation after earlier sightings photos circulated online.
