China launches broad trade countermeasures ahead of Xi visit
The measures include a broader set of trade actions than those seen since last October’s trade truce, according to CNBC World.
China has rolled out its broadest package of trade countermeasures since last October’s trade truce, pushing back against recent U.S. restrictions on technology, CNBC World reports.
The timing comes weeks before President Xi Jinping’s visit, as Beijing seeks to test the durability of the truce amid continued friction with Washington.
CNBC World says the new steps follow a run of U.S. restrictions aimed at China’s tech sector, prompting China to respond with a wider set of trade tools than previously announced since the truce.
