SpaceX shares jump ahead of debut earnings, after July selloff
SpaceX’s IPO lockup expires Thursday, and analysts expect a Q2 2026 net loss of about $1.9 billion on roughly $6.9 billion in revenue.
Space stocks rose Tuesday as traders moved into position ahead of SpaceX’s debut earnings report as a public company. SpaceX climbed 4% to $119, AST SpaceMobile gained 9% to $69, and Rocket Lab rose 6% to $74.34, following what Yahoo Finance described as a brutal July for the sector.
The strength came as investors looked past broad declines during the prior month. SpaceX was down about 27% over the past month, and Rocket Lab shares were down 26%, with the move characterized as an oversold, risk-on bounce into the report rather than a company specific catalyst.
SpaceX is set to release its first public quarterly report after the close at 4 p.m. ET, followed by an analyst call at 4:30 p.m. ET led by Elon Musk. The company priced its June IPO at $135, the largest U.S. debut ever, and it currently trades 11% below that offer price, after an earlier mid-June intraday high of $225.64.
Analysts expect a Q2 2026 net loss of around $1.9 billion and revenue estimates near $6.9 billion, driven by Starlink, according to Yahoo Finance. The article also cited SpaceX’s 2025 revenue of $18.7 billion and a net loss of more than $4.9 billion, along with a Polymarket-implied 70.5% probability that SpaceX misses the print.
