Breez launches Glow, open source app to send stablecoins from BTC

Glow is a MIT-licensed PWA that routes stablecoin sends from a user’s Bitcoin balance via Breez’s SDK, with Lightning payments supported through its Spark integration.

Breez has launched Glow, an MIT-licensed, free and open source progressive web app designed to let users use Bitcoin as the source of value for sending stablecoins. The app was developed with partners including Bitcoin Spark and aims to improve the everyday wallet experience while keeping users in self custody.

According to Bitcoin Magazine, Glow lets users send stablecoins from their BTC balance, with Breez’s SDK handling asset exchange in the background and supporting Lightning payments through Spark integration. The app also uses Passkeys for login instead of seed phrase flows, while keeping funds under cryptographic control in an auditable software package.

Glow supports native Lightning payments, including sending and receiving through customizable Lightning addresses, and it supports self custody and cryptographic control claims for users. Bitcoin Magazine says Glow is available via Apple and Android app stores, and it is initially positioned for a Bitcoiner user base.

The app can currently send USDT and USDC across most networks and blockchains through a partnership with Flashnet, and it includes onramps to buy bitcoin via Cash App and MoonPay through SDK-connected APIs. Sats are reported to arrive in seconds, and the app includes contacts integration for saving Lightning addresses.
