CFTC warns prediction markets against using American-style betting odds

The Block reports that the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission has cautioned prediction market platforms about how they present betting odds.

According to Bloomberg, the warning targeted the use of American-style “moneyline” betting odds on some platforms, with the CFTC asking them to refrain from using those odds formats.

The issue centers on whether those odds presentation methods could be viewed as operating like gambling rather than as regulated prediction markets.
