China and Philippines police agree to boost intelligence sharing
The Philippines' chief police officer said there would be no safe haven for transnational criminals as both sides plan to track and investigate offenders across borders.
The Philippine National Police has agreed with Chinese public security counterparts in Fujian to deepen intelligence sharing and improve cooperation on international crime, according to the Philippine News Agency, as clashes continue in the South China Sea.
SCMP Economy reports that Philippine National Police Chief Jose Melencio Nartatez Jnr hosted Wang Xizhang, the executive director general of Fujian's Public Security Department, during talks focused on addressing evolving security threats through sustained dialogue, intelligence sharing, and capacity building.
Officials also said they would promote regional peace and public safety through closer cooperation. In remarks carried by the Philippine News Agency, Nartatez said there would be no safe haven for transnational criminals and that both sides would track, investigate, and bring offenders to justice wherever they operate.
