Cypher and Osmosis card spending ends Aug. 7, deactivation Sept. 6
CryptoSlate reports Cypher users have until Sept. 6 to withdraw balances and claim CYPR rewards, but rewards and platform support will stop after the wind-down.
Cypher’s wind-down, after payments company Nium acquired the crypto card and self-custody wallet provider, will end purchases on all active Cypher Cards at 00:00 UTC on Aug. 8, making Aug. 7 the final day for card spending, according to CryptoSlate.
Users have until Sept. 6 to withdraw remaining balances, claim rewards, and preserve wallet access before Cypher’s app, dApp, and business platform go offline. CryptoSlate also notes Cypher’s termination notice says the card will be deactivated on Sept. 6, and the timing is presented as conflicting with the Aug. 8 payments cutoff.
The wind-down applies to existing physical and virtual Cypher Cards, as well as business cards. CryptoSlate says Osmosis has told Osmosis Pay cardholders to follow the same Aug. 7 last spending day and Sept. 6 cutoff, with no regional exceptions published by either company.
For personal users, CryptoSlate reports Cypher card-balance withdrawals can be requested in the Cypher app, and withdrawals use USDC settlement on Base with no Cypher fee, typically taking 24 to 48 hours. CryptoSlate adds that cardholders must also claim CYPR rewards, unlocked CYPR, and protocol incentives before Sept. 6, and that reward claims will not remain available after the wind-down, while self-custody wallet assets remain under the user’s control.
