Trump Media terminates Crypto.com deal tied to CRO treasury
The withdrawal ends plans for a $6.4 billion CRO treasury and the use of Truth Social for crypto-linked prediction markets, as TMTG cites prevailing market conditions and shifting priorities.
Cointelegraph reports that Trump Media and Technology Group, or TMTG, is unwinding a deal with Crypto.com instead of pursuing a proposed CRO treasury, after citing prevailing market conditions and shifting business and stakeholder priorities.
According to Cointelegraph, TMTG interim CEO Kevin McGurn said the company will pull back from two Crypto.com agreements that were intended to create a $6.4 billion CRO treasury and to integrate prediction markets into its Truth Social platform, via a planned Truth Predict feature.
Cointelegraph adds that TMTG announced the CRO treasury plan in September 2025, which involved purchasing billions of dollars worth of Crypto.com’s CRO tokens with the potential for crypto rewards for Truth Social users.
Cointelegraph also notes that McGurn reportedly framed the rollback as driven more by competitive dynamics than by regulatory concerns, while lawmakers continue to scrutinize the president’s crypto-related interests.
