Kosovo parliament suspended after opposition MP throws eggs at PM Kurti
The parliamentary session was halted after security removed caretaker Prime Minister Albin Kurti, as a broader political deadlock could push Kosovo toward another snap election.
Kosovo’s parliament was suspended after an opposition lawmaker pelted caretaker Prime Minister Albin Kurti with eggs during a session, according to Agence France-Presse, cited by SCMP Economy.
The incident occurred when MP Time Kadrijaj threw yolk-filled projectiles at Kurti as the caretaker premier attempted to delay a key vote, prompting the session chair to cut the live feed and security to escort him to safety.
SCMP Economy reports the egging underscores a long-running political crisis in Kosovo that has already driven three elections in less than two years, with successive parliaments collapsing amid deep divisions.
Kurti had been in days-long negotiations with opposition parties over selecting a new president, and the current standoff threatens to lead to yet another snap election.
