Mexico ships first LNG cargo from new Energia Costa Azul terminal

Energia Costa Azul adds 0.4 Bcf/d of nominal export capacity from a single train, tripling Mexico's LNG export capacity, according to the project developer.

Energia Costa Azul, Mexico's second liquefied natural gas export terminal, shipped its first cargo from Phase 1 on July 8, the project developer said, according to EIA.

The new facility is Mexico's first LNG terminal and is designed as a single-train project, with Phase 1 initiating exports.

With completion, it adds 0.4 billion cubic feet per day of nominal export capacity from that train, which EIA says would triple Mexico's LNG export capacity.

The terminal began shipping using the Phase 1 portion of the project while the broader buildout continues.
