Albemarle posts major Q2 2026 earnings beat on higher lithium prices

Adjusted EPS rose to $3.75 from 11 cents a year earlier, while revenue climbed 30% to $1.74 billion.

Albemarle reported Q2 2026 results that topped expectations, with adjusted earnings per share rising more than 3,300% year over year to $3.75, versus 11 cents in the prior year. The company also delivered adjusted EPS above the $3.20 forecast cited ahead of the release, helped largely by higher lithium prices.

The quarter’s revenue came in at $1.74 billion, beating the $1.61 billion expected and increasing 30% year over year. Albemarle noted the broader lithium price context as well, with lithium prices down about 30% from a peak near $30,000 per metric ton earlier in the year.

Performance strength was also reflected in profitability and cash generation. Adjusted EBITDA reached $858 million, up 155% year over year, and margins expanded to 49% from 25% a year ago, according to the company’s reported figures.

Albemarle said it achieved roughly $100 million in cost and productivity run rate improvements in the first half of 2026 and is on track to hit the high end of its $100 million to $150 million full-year target through debottlenecking projects at La Negra, Jordan Bromine Company, and its Chinese conversion facilities. Operating cash flow conversion was 69% in the first half of 2026, and free cash flow totaled $638 million for the quarter, the outlet said.
