AMD shares fall 7% after Q2 beat and raised outlook
AMD reported its fiscal 2026 second-quarter results on Aug. 4 after the close, but the stock dropped 7% the following day despite a lifted long-term outlook.
Advanced Micro Devices posted a second-quarter fiscal 2026 report that beat analysts on both revenue and profit, and it also raised its long-term outlook, but investors still sold the shares, according to Yahoo Finance.
The reaction was sharp: AMD stock fell 7% on Wednesday after the Aug. 4 after-hours results, underscoring that, with expectations already elevated for AI-related companies, a beat-and-raise quarter may not be enough.
Yahoo Finance also noted that some Wall Street brokerage firms responded by raising price targets after the results, pointing to AMD’s AI GPU roadmap and its expanding data center business as part of the underlying growth case.
Even after the sell-off, the article said AMD is 17.9% below its June peak, with the market reaction leaving investors debating whether the pullback is an opportunity or a reason to stay cautious.
