Iran denies direct talks with U.S. over Strait of Hormuz access
Iran’s foreign minister said any U.S. communication would occur through intermediaries, amid regional fallout from a claimed attack on a Saudi refinery.
Iran’s foreign minister has denied that Tehran is holding direct talks with the United States regarding opening access through the Strait of Hormuz, according to CNBC Markets. The outlet said the minister indicated that Iran is not engaging in talks with Washington.
CNBC World reported that the minister added messages are being exchanged through intermediaries instead of direct negotiations. The denials come alongside claims tied to a Houthi attack on a Saudi refinery, which adds to uncertainty around regional energy security.
