Bitcoin stays near $65,000 after Coldcard hack and Clarity Act delay
Bitcoin has traded in a $60,000 to $65,000 range since late June, while the Clarity Act is unlikely to move forward this year ahead of November midterms.
Bitcoin was trading around $65,000 as the market ended a difficult week, with prices continuing to cluster in a tight $60,000 to $65,000 range that has held since the end of June, according to Yahoo Finance.
Analysts said a meaningful recovery likely requires Bitcoin to break above resistance near $65,000. Investors are also weighing the fallout from the Coldcard hack, in which $130 million in crypto was drained from digital wallets that relied on private keys.
Yahoo Finance also noted that crypto advocates faced a separate policy setback after news that the Clarity Act will not be voted on in the U.S. Senate before Congress takes its summer recess beginning on Aug. 7, making it unlikely to become law this year.
Among crypto-linked equities, Yahoo Finance reported that Strategy’s high-yielding preferred stock recovered as the firm prioritized cash reserves, and that SpaceX reported a $540 million paper loss on Bitcoin holdings tied to a 33% decline in Bitcoin’s price from end of 2025 to June 30, while maintaining 18,712 Bitcoin.
