Chainlink price target raised to $200 by 2030 amid tokenization surge
Standard Chartered forecasts tokenized assets on-chain will reach $4.0 trillion by end-2028 and DeFi assets deployed will expand to $2.7 trillion by 2030.
Standard Chartered initiated coverage of Chainlink with a price target of $200 by the end of 2030, up from roughly $8 at the time of the note. The bank said LINK was trading around $8.25 on Monday, down 0.8% for the day, according to CoinGecko.
In the bank's staged targets, Chainlink is projected to reach $13 by end-2024, then $41, $82 and $133 in later steps before $200 by 2030. Standard Chartered also laid out parallel end-2030 targets of $500,000 for Bitcoin and $40,000 for Ethereum.
The bullish case ties to growth in tokenization and DeFi. Standard Chartered expects tokenized assets on-chain to climb about 12-fold to $4 trillion by end-2028, and assets deployed in DeFi to grow 37-fold to $2.7 trillion by 2030.
Because Chainlink provides data and moves assets between chains, the bank estimates its fees could rise about 25 times over the period, assuming the token price follows those fees. It also cited Chainlink’s “value secured” above $110 billion, covering about 70% of oracle-dependent value in DeFi globally and more than 80% on Ethereum, and said more than $7 billion in token value has moved to its CCIP since an April exploit.
It further pointed to CCIP usage, saying quarterly CCIP volume reached $4.9 billion in the second quarter, up 353% year on year. Decrypt previously reported in May that KelpDAO blamed LayerZero for an April exploit and planned to rebuild on Chainlink, a characterization LayerZero disputes.
