China debuts OneGenome AI tool to help diagnose rare genetic diseases

The tool is built by combining Genos, a genomic model released last year, with large language model capabilities to interpret gene mutations from clinical information.

China has released an AI tool called OneGenome aimed at helping diagnose rare diseases that are often genetic in origin, according to SCMP Economy.

The outlet said patients can spend years going through specialists and tests without clear answers, because the underlying cause can be difficult to spot from DNA information alone.

OneGenome is designed to reason based on accumulated human medical logic rather than directly reading DNA sequences, using an approach intended to interpret the clinical consequences of gene mutations.

SCMP Economy reported the system was developed by integrating Genos, a genomic foundational model released last year trained on human genomes representing diverse global populations, with large language model capabilities.
