China issues preliminary anti-dumping curbs on US and Mexican pecans

The provisional measures start with cash deposits of 51.6% for Mexican firms and 54.3% for US producers, citing a sharp rise in dumped volumes.

Beijing has issued a preliminary ruling that the United States and Mexico are dumping pecans into China, harming domestic producers, according to the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, as reported by SCMP Economy.

The ministry said that during the injury investigation period, the volume of dumped imports rose by 104.6% cumulatively and their domestic market share increased by 9.7 percentage points, while the import price fell by 9.2% and stayed below the selling price of comparable domestic products.

China announced a provisional anti-dumping measure that requires cash deposits, setting rates at 51.6% for Mexican firms and 54.3% for American producers, while six Mexican firms that cooperated received lower rates ranging from 17.8% to 23%.

The measures are set to take effect on Tuesday, with interested parties given 10 days to submit written comments, the ministry said, adding that it would issue a final ruling after reviewing the findings.
