Strategy adds $4.75B cash cushion as bitcoin alone fails to attract holders
CoinDesk reports Strategy adjusted its preferred-stock positioning after finding investors place a premium on cash liquidity, supporting the firm’s shift toward a broader digital credit platform.
Strategy is building a large cash liquidity buffer, aiming to reduce the market’s reliance on its bitcoin holdings as the primary reason investors show interest, according to CoinDesk.
CoinDesk reports that Strategy CEO Phong Le said the company changed its approach after learning that preferred stock investors assign value to cash liquidity, not just exposure to bitcoin.
The cash cushion is tied to Strategy’s effort to expand beyond a simple buy-and-hold bitcoin model into a broader digital credit business, CoinDesk wrote.
CoinDesk also noted that, despite bitcoin accounting for most of the company’s market value, Strategy’s legacy software operation remains part of the plan as Le frames the firm as a financial platform built around bitcoin rather than a leveraged proxy.
