CESCO starts a grain homogenization and dosing facility for Molini Valente
The project in Felizzano, Italy adds eight hopper bottom silos with continuous temperature monitoring to help segregate and blend full train shipment lots before milling.
CESCO EPC has started construction of a new grain homogenization and dosing facility for Molini Valente SpA at the company’s milling complex in Felizzano, Italy, aiming to expand grain handling capacity while improving lot segregation, quality control, and blend preparation prior to milling.
The installation will be integrated with the existing grain handling system, including the rail intake facility, to help the mill receive, monitor, and manage incoming shipments with more operational flexibility.
The expansion includes eight HBS 12,20/16/45 hopper bottom silos equipped with continuous temperature monitoring, with each silo sized to accommodate the equivalent of one complete train shipment. CESCO EPC says this supports full segregation of individual grain lots and their subsequent homogenization, helping the mill manage variations in grain quality, moisture content, and origin.
Grain handling will use a bucket elevator, chain conveyors, and a belt conveyor designed to minimize product degradation and dust generation, with aspiration filters for dust control. The site’s history of periodic flooding is addressed through a flood resilient storage design, including hopper bottom silo selection and steel bracing that allows easier inspection, cleaning, and drying beneath the silos after flood events.
