Compass homebuyers seek voluntary dismissal of $475 transaction fee suit
The Florida case, filed in late June, challenged Compass’s flat $475 fee and class-action status after Compass later described transaction fees as a Q1 2026 revenue stream.
HousingWire reports that homebuyers who sued Compass over a $475 transaction fee have filed a motion to voluntarily dismiss their Florida case.
The suit, filed in late June in Palm Beach County Court by Jeff and Melissa Efron, accused Compass of unfair and deceptive business practices, alleging the brokerage charged Florida purchasing clients a flat fee.
According to HousingWire, the plaintiffs say they paid Compass $475 when their transaction closed in 2024, and the lawsuit sought class status.
HousingWire adds that Compass addressed the transaction fees in its first-quarter 2026 earnings report, acknowledging them as a revenue stream, while stating it did not disclose how much the fees were and noting the fees were expanded nationwide earlier this year.
