EU grain industry faces about €2B revenue hit from 2026 heatwave

Europe’s grain industry is absorbing multibillion euro losses as a 2026 summer heatwave drives severe crop stress and production shortfalls, according to analysis cited by World Grain. World Grain, citing an Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit (ECIU) estimate, said the European grain industry has lost around €2 billion in revenue due to reduced production. The estimate is based on crop deficit figures and production data from Coceral, the story says.
