Hedge funds unwind US natural gas shorts as heat forecasts lift prices
Money managers built their largest net-short exposure to US natural gas in years before covering bearish positions as price-supporting weather updates circulated, Bloomberg reported.
US natural gas prices rose on Monday after changing weather forecasts, prompting hedge funds to reduce or cover established short positions, according to a report cited by Hedgeweek.
The article, citing Bloomberg, said money managers had built their largest net-short exposure to the commodity in years, but began unwinding bearish bets as forecasts shifted toward hotter conditions.
